At Newell Brands, we recognize our responsibility to model ethical and sustainable practices at each step of the product lifecycle, as well as in our workplace, operations and communities. We recently hosted our third annual Sustainability Excellence Awards recognizing initiatives across the company aimed at reducing our environmental impact and designing better solutions for the future. The winning entries are selected for their demonstration of leadership, initiative, transparency, efficiency and innovation. We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2022 Sustainability Excellence Awards.

Earning the Gold award, the Commercial team in Winchester, Virginia reduced waste, diverted nearly 70 truckloads of remaining waste and used innovative recycling methods in support of our 2025 goal to divert 90% of our waste generated at manufacturing from landfills. In addition, to offset winter heating costs, the Winchester plant is burning waste oil.

Awarded Silver, the Fine Writing team in Nantes, France implemented sustainability projects that resulting in significant annual savings and planted 500 trees and native plants on site. The team in-sourced the Waterman Allure and Parker Jotter XL reducing transportation, replaced PVC blister shells with recyclable PET and optimized their water filtration system leading to less water use, among other initiatives.

The Baby team in Zeven, Germany was granted the Bronze award for their launch of Nuk for Nature™, a sustainably designed, manufactured and packaged product line, reducing the line’s CO2 emissions 30-50%. Employees were trained for ISCC PLUS (plastic) and REDcert² (silicone) certification, providing a structure to validate materials claims and guide future materials decisions. The Zeven team delivered a sustainable product to the marketplace by engaging our plant, design and marketing teams to increase their impact.
