At Newell Brands, we are committed to maintaining our world-class safety record. Across the Global Supply Chain, Newell employees came together this November to focus on fostering a safe and positive work environment. Safety is foundational to how Newell creates products that offer superior value for consumers, and frontline employees regularly participate in company-wide campaigns to improve our safety practices.
This safety campaign topic was Powered Industrial Equipment, or “PIE” for short. Over three weeks, employees participated in a teamwork-centric curriculum. All employees, whether PIE drivers or pedestrians, learned their part in identifying, reporting and mitigating potential hazards associated with equipment like forklifts and lift trucks.
Employees received a weekly newsletter and quiz and joined discussions where they could ask questions and learn what it means to succeed together. In total, employees completed over 8,700 quizzes, and those who received a perfect score were entered to win a prize.
But it wasn’t all classroom learning; there were plenty of hands-on activities and local engagement events from our locations, including Whately, Massachusetts; Bristol, U.K.; Lumberton, North Carolina; and Mexicali, Mexico.
